Milk is on its way!!

I just placed our first order for next week.  We have had a great response to this new program with over 100 students participating and over 400 milks ordered for the first week.  Just a reminder the program is based on pre-orders for the first month but it is not too late to get in on the latest BUZZ.  You can pick up a weekly order form from one of our milk helpers and place your order for next week.  Thank you for your support of these new initiatives.

Yesterday the Eco-team from Harrow Senior attended this years training session at the Ciociaro Club.  This is a unique learning experience as it brings together teachers, custodians, administration and students.  It was a full day starting out with a keynote address by David Phillips the senior climatologist from CBC radio.  This was a very informative session and I heard that our table of learners was spotted on the local evening news.  We then went through sessions on Waste Management, Electrical Energy Conservation and others.  It was a long day but as you can see from the following pictures it was an interesting day and the lunch was fabulous.  Thank yo to Mrs. Bildfell, Mr. Durham, Austin W., Wesley B., Sydney M. and Taylor Rouseau for representing Harrow Senior.

New Phone Lines

Harrow Senior will join many GECDSB buidings on a new automated phone system, on Tuesday, January 5th, which will provide us with more up to date services.  With the new system the old attendance line will be removed and all calls will come into the school through the main number of 519-738-4921.  From this line you will be faced with options one of which will be to report an absence, simply leave a message and the office staff will retrieve the information.  In addition you will also be able to speak directly to the office staff through a second option.  A third option will be to enter a five digit voice mailbox for any staff member in the school.  This option will allow you to leave a message for staff which will go directly to their email account which they can access at their convenience and respond accordingly.  This new system will allow us easier access with all personnel in our system as well as be more cost-effective.  We are all looking forward to this new system and will work out any issues over the first couple of days.

Canadian author Eric Walters will be visiting Harrow Senior in early February.  He is scheduled to present in the afternoon to our students and will be a part of a Literacy evening for our families.  Look for more information to come out in our January and February Newsletters.  We have many of Eric’s books in our library and I encourage all students to become familiar with his books to allow for greater participation in this special presentation.  This event is being supported by the school and the Harrow Senior Parent Council.  The staff and students would like to thank the Parent Council for making activities like this available to all.
